Chris bought a bargain huge bag of applesthe other day to cook down for apple crumble. Left with a mound of apple peelings he decided to make a chutney. He didn't have a recipe and has never made chutney but he just guessed what to put in it. I was convinced it would be horrible.
Chris's Yummy Apple Peel Chutney (makes one large jarful)
peel from 13 eating apples, finely chopped in food processor
2 onions, finely chopped in food processor
1/2 cup malt vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup raisins
- Chuck stuff in
- Boil for ages
- Put in jar
I love this idea! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I am going to can apple slices and use the peels to make this chutney. I am so happy to have a recipe that uses the peels!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Abs! I'd love to hear about any improvements you can suggest for the recipe.
